Global Elevation Model (GDEM) Dataset
This project gathers global digital elevation model datasets for the Earth, so dependent projects can consume elevation and seafloor relief in verified, common forms.
Status
- ETOPO 2022: downloaded; see the dashboard for tile counts, size, and download date.
- Further datasets are planned: Copernicus DEM GLO-30 and NASADEM are marked for download in the datasets manifest.
- Void handling: deferred until more datasets are downloaded; ETOPO 2022 has no voids by construction.
- Common data format: under consideration, to simplify ingestion by dependent projects.
Datasets
Datasets are stored on the dedicated datasets volume and recorded in a manifest with id, purpose, download date, and source. The dashboard shows the current numbers.
